We believe privacy policies should be readable by actual humans. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and what we never do with your data.

01 Overview

Cynetric ("we", "us", "our") operates the Progressive Overload mobile application and the cynetric.com website. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding that information.

We take privacy seriously. We collect only what we need, we don't sell your data, and we aim to be completely transparent about how everything works.

The short version: we collect the minimum data needed to make the app work well. We don't sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything other than making your experience better.

02 Data We Collect

We collect data in two ways: information you provide directly, and information generated automatically as you use the app.

Information you provide

  • Account details — if you create an account, your name and email address.
  • Workout data — exercises, sets, reps, weights, and routines you log inside the app.
  • Contact form submissions — your name, email, and message when you contact us through the website.

Information collected automatically

  • Basic app usage analytics — which screens you visit and features you use, to help us improve the app. This data is aggregated and not tied to you personally.
  • Crash reports — if the app crashes, we collect diagnostic data to fix the issue. This includes device type, OS version, and a stack trace. It does not include your workout data.
  • Device identifiers — a random, anonymous identifier used to associate your data with your device. Not linked to your name or identity unless you create an account.

What we do NOT collect

  • Location data of any kind.
  • Camera or microphone access (the photo sharing feature uses your camera roll only — we never access your camera).
  • Contacts, health app data, or any data outside the Progressive Overload app.
  • Payment details — we don't process payments directly.

03 How We Use It

We use the data we collect for the following purposes only:

  • To operate the app — syncing your workout history, running the progressive overload algorithm, and displaying your analytics.
  • To improve the product — understanding which features are used most and where bugs occur.
  • To respond to your messages — if you contact us, we use your contact details to reply.
  • To maintain security — detecting and preventing misuse of our services.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.

04 How It's Stored

Workout data is stored locally on your device by default. If you create an account or enable cloud backup, your data is stored on secure servers. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked back to you.

Your workout data belongs to you. You can export or delete it at any time from within the app settings.

05 Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Full stop.

We share data with third parties only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — We use a small number of tools to operate our services (e.g., cloud hosting, crash reporting). These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually bound to protect it and use it only for the services they provide to us.
  • Legal requirements — If required by law or a valid legal process, we may disclose information to the appropriate authorities. We will notify you if we are legally permitted to do so.
  • Business transfers — If Cynetric is acquired or merged, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We would notify you before this happens and you would have the option to delete your data.

06 Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion — Request that we delete your personal data. You can do this directly in the app, or by contacting us.
  • Portability — Request your workout data in a portable format (CSV export available in-app).
  • Objection — Object to our processing of your data in certain circumstances.

07 Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

08 Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll notify you directly via email (if you have an account) or through an in-app notice.

Continued use of our services after a policy update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
